Gorgeous Vintage Peacock Woodcut Art from the Late 1800’s
I have a thing for peacocks – I even have one (positively gorgeous) peacock tattooed on my arm. Since lately I’ve been going through tons of old scans to find new art for Vintage Fangirl, I am not entirely sure where I sourced this lovely old woodcut drawing of a peacock on a rock wall with an ornate urn. I think it came from my Museum of Birds book, which was published in this example in 1900, but I’m pretty sure mine is an earlier version. An interesting thing about the illustrated books from this era is that the woodcut illustrations seemed to appear in many books, not just one. Especially the animal illustrations – I guess they were like the royalty-free stock art of the day. Regardless, this image is a classic antique woodcut that could be used for a gazillion DIY or decor projects.
