Over the last few months I’ve been trying to beef up my vintage Halloween art library. I’ve found this to be somewhat challenging because old Halloween stuff is so hard to find and can be quite expensive. I decided to try to find some good drawings to share with you from old occult books – and this is one of those images. It comes from the book Witchcraft, Magic and Alchemy by Emile Grillot de Givry. It has some pretty weird illustrations, that’s for sure – but there are some really beautiful ones, too. This one shows astrology signs on a palm reading chart. I’m fairly sure the notes are in French – de Givry was born in France in 1870. Beyond that, I couldn’t decipher this thing if my life depended on it!

I know it is technically a little early for Halloween stuff, but Halloween is tied with Christmas for my most favorite holiday of the year. So in my mind, if craft stores can put out Christmas decorations in June, you can’t really be early for Halloween anytime after April, right?! 😉
