So, it’s been over a year since I’ve posted on this blog. If I told you the short story of my 2013, it would take so long that I’d never write the post and this blog would remain stagnant. The bullet points? Near financial ruin, near business failure, near foreclosure… then a somewhat miraculous financial turnaround, business turnaround, and a lovely new 1900 farmhouse that we now call home. Oh, and a book deal!!

The book deal is truly exciting, and gives me a reason to post here again. I illustrated a book of Animal Mandala Coloring Pages published in 2014. I don’t even have a link for pre-order yet, but I’ll be sure to add it when it becomes available. As I was working with the publisher to narrow the topic of the book, I drew up this art nouveau inspired mandala, and it was one of my favorites. Somewhat sadly, it isn’t going to be included in this title, so I get to share it with you instead!

This is where I HAVE to give a shout out to my oldest and dearest blogging friend Char Polanosky, who has been after me since July to bring Vintage Fangirl back to life. And also to Karen the Graphics Fairy, who offered tremendous moral support and a shoulder to cry on when I almost gave up on blogging. I was on the fence about bringing this blog back for the longest time, and having a really shitty 2013 was a huge de-motivating force behind my refusal to commit to anything. But being able to move into a fantastically adorable vintage farmhouse into a community that was love at first sight for us (Woodstock, IL) has been one of the the best things to happen to our family in years. And now that I’m decorating a vintage home and living in a super old-fashioned Victorian era town, I cannot resist bringing Vintage Fangirl back. So thank you Char & Karen, for refusing to believe in the worst of me, and thank YOU, if you’re actually still around after a year of no new blog posts.
