Wedding Dress Fashion Plate from 1906

This little lovely comes from a magazine that I can hardly find any history on at all. I collect a lot of old fashion and women’s interest magazines, and it is not often that I come across a copy of the New Idea Woman’s Magazine. Not to be confused with the Australian New Idea Women’s Magazine – this image comes from the New Idea Pattern Company magazine which existed from 1894-1920 when it merged with Butterick. This Edwardian era wedding dress was featured as a sewing pattern you could purchase in their October 1906 issue. Am I the only person who wishes they could travel back in time for a day just to collect a copy of all those old sewing patterns? 🙂

By the way, I bought this magazine because it had the coolest vintage corset ad I’ve ever seen!
