Vintage Steampunk Flying Machines from an Antique Book Plate

Well, I’ve had a pretty CRAZY last few weeks. Between having a family reunion, doing a mini kitchen remodel, and then losing our power for 4 days during the huge storm that hit Chicago, I’ve had to raise the white flag of surrender. 🙂 Now I’m desperately trying to get caught up on work stuff, and only half succeeding at that. So that’s why I haven’t posted in a week. Blech!

I figured I’d have to come back with a pretty cool image to share, and I really, really like this one. It comes from my 1912 vintage encyclopedia set and depicts the modern “flying machines” of the times. The plane on the left is supposed to be the Wright Brothers’ in flight, the left is a steampunk-esque pre-Hindenburg zeppelin. I love the very vintage car in the foreground to set the scene perfectly, don’t you? 🙂
