Oh – I really, really love the latest addition to this vintage Christmas image series! This is a perfect vintage image of Santa smoking a pipe and holding his bag of toys. It appeared in Harper’s Weekly in January, 1881.

When I think of an old-fashioned Christmas, this kind of illustration usually comes to mind. I just love the attention to detail and amazing talent these artists had! I’m technically not sure if this is a true woodcut printing or if it was drawn with pen and ink. Either way, it is absolutely LOVELY!
