Today’s vintage Valentine’s Day inspired picture is of a gorgeous botanical red rose – highly detailed with lovely deep color and even some rain drops on the flower petals:

I mentioned yesterday that I did quite a bit of photographing of vintage images for the site – this is one of them. Last week I bought a rather expensive-but-totally-worth it 1939 French magazine – Plaisir de France. I paid more than I usually do because of the incredible color plates the issue contained. They were quite varied in subject matter – vintage historical fashion plates, a huge collection of antique fans, plus a group of highly detailed roses in various colors. Plus, the 1930’s French ads are beyond cool. The print quality in this magazine is by far the best I have ever seen in a vintage publication, and it’s making for some stunning vintage pictures to post here!
