Happy Friday! Today’s vintage image comes from one of my Victorian era scrapbooks. This is an absolutely precious picture of two young girls with their pet dog. I don’t have an exact date on the book, but based on the other items in it, it comes from somewhere between 1880 and 1895. The dog portrayed is a Landseer, which was a dog breed commonly used in art of the day because of its’ “impressive appearance”. An interesting thing to note about this breed is that it has a natural talent for swimming, and is still in use today to help save people from drowning. No wonder people loved these dogs so much!
