It is getting increasingly difficult to not think about summer being right around the corner. It is my absolute favorite time of year and it seems like I only live in “Summer” and “Waiting for Summer”. I found this lovely summer camp for boys ad in an old issue of Nature Magazine – although it almost looks like a sign rather than an advertisement. This is ironically quite close to me – Winnetka is also in the Chicago suburbs like I am. And Green Bay Wisconsin is *gorgeous* – close to Door County which is one of my favorite places in the Great Lakes. “Adventure Island” was literally that – an island, which is about 3 miles offshore from Fish Creek, Wisconsin. The Adventure Island Camp seems to be long gone – I can’t find a thing about it anywhere on the internet. 🙁
I’m tempted to turn this graphic into a wall art sign for my son’s room – I’d remove all the lettering below the water line and use a Citrisolv transfer method to get the image onto a piece of wood. Then I’d probably paint over the design with black paint to ensure it looked vibrant and clear. Then I’d probably undo all that work with some sandpaper to make it look weathered and cool. 🙂
